A group of our pupils were lucky enough to be involved in this project run by Tameside MBC and Oldham Coliseum Theatre, funded by the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

Working under the direction of Sarah Eastaff from Oldham Coliseum, the pupils devised a short piece based on the themes of 'loyalty' and 'super-heroes'.

The project was run as an authentic, professional-style theatre experience - involving script-reading sessions, rehearsals at school, and technical and dress rehearsals at the theatre, culminating in an evening performance watched by over 200 people!

It has been a real privilege helping to host this year’s scarecrow competition. We were delighted that Rachel Summerscales from ‘Operation Farm’ allowed us to display the scarecrows from the four special schools:

Hawthorns, who had a large, scary crow; Oakdale, who had a very cute cat; Samuel Laycock, whose ‘Dracula’ was a big hit with a lot of selfies being taken!; and Thomas Ashton, who had an ‘Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Art’. They were all displayed in the orchard at Hyde Park on Sunday 18th October.
