Community Visit
Another visit in the Community from our students and staff this morning.
Miss MacDonough's class:
"We visited The Lakes Nursing Home today to participate in an autumnal workshop along with some Remembrance Day artwork.
The pupils worked alongside a resident and helped them to paint the picture. On the Autumnal artwork pupils used florets of broccoli to paint with. We used autumnal colours for the leaves and the results are very creative.
We also did some Remembrance Day artwork. Pupils painted the canvas blue back at school and then once at the The Lakes the residents chose a stencil and pupils helped them attach this stencil to the canvas with masking tape. They then used black paint to stencil the image onto the canvas.
Pupils were amazing with the residents and were not only helping them with their artwork but were also patient talking to them. They were very patient and were not phased when residents refused to do something but offered to do it for them. It was lovely to see students relaxing after a short time and engaging with the residents. One resident took a shine to Corey's teddy bear and it was lovely to see how other residents became defensive of Corey demanding that the bear be returned.
A really lovely end to the term. I am so proud of them all.
A big thank you to all the pupils, especially to Thomas for all his photography skills and also to Mrs S Butler and Mr F Taylor for their help."
